The role is mobile based primarily in and around London carrying out service and maintenance to commercial buildings but will also require some travel nationwide.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious and well organised Maintenance Operative to join our national maintenance team and will be required to carry out planned and reactive maintenance to a range of commercial contracts including commercial offices and retail units to name a few.
Carrying out; routine duties, pre-planned maintenance, repairs and other specific facilities related works requiring both skilled and un-skilled labour.
Occasional evening/weekend work required.
Job Description
· Daily duties to include specific jobs list / repairs, pro-active maintenance, emergency repairs and pre-planned works as part of a larger team.
· Planned and reactive maintenance to plant and equipment, monitor and checks.
· Painting to keep buildings to high standards.
· Responding to all faults. Overseeing repairs or maintenance as reported by staff, and tenants according to their priority.
· General repair tasks may include some aspects of plumbing, electrics, basic joinery & painting etc.
· Assisting in the moving, setting up and dismantling of furniture for office moves and within Conference Rooms, Meeting rooms and Events spaces.
· Deal with minor electrical repairs and fixings, light bulbs, plugs etc
· Floor boxes relocation, remove and lay floor tiles and ceiling tiles.
· Painting/grouting communal and office areas.
· Communicate well with clients to resolve work orders.
· Important routine compliance works will be scheduled and must be carried out on time and in an organised fashion with a good audit trail.
· Clean up after yourself and leave properties in good order at the end of the day while the work is being done, and after works are completed.
· You will work on small projects which can include client moves, floor box relocations, refurbishments.
Job Requirements
· Relevant training/qualifications to role
· Competent in basic plumbing, joinery, basic electrics, painting and decorating
· Good painting and decorating skills
· Strong DIY skills and maintenance experience are essential such as moving floor boxes and relaying carpet tiles.
· Physically capable of moving equipment / furniture.
· A good understanding of health & safety is required, along with a professional attitude to present a good image and promote a safe working environment.
· Ability to prioritise workload
· Accurately assess the time and materials that will be required to complete the task cost effectively
· Have a working knowledge of responsibilities in relation to Health & Safety, COSHH, and associated good practice.
· Good understanding and use of IT, specifically MS Office packages including Word and Excel or similar software packages
· Fault diagnosis and repair
· Experience of working in a previous handyperson/trade related role.
· Knowledge and experience using hand and power tools.
· Able to handle customer complaints and resolve problems efficiently.
